The Florida WIC program is a public health nutrition program that promotes breastfeeding as the normal, optimal way of feeding and nurturing children.

WIC offers Breastfeeding classes for new mothers.

Did you know that most moms can breast feed? This includes:

  • Teen Moms
  • Moms with small breasts
  • Moms who had C-sections
  • Moms with disabilities
  • Older Moms
  • Moms with large breasts
  • Moms whose own mothers didn't breast feed

According to research studies, breast fed children have fewer allergies, as well as a reduced risk of diabetes, some childhood cancers, and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Studies also show that women who breast feed have a decreased risk of breast and ovarian cancers, anemia, and osteoporosis.

The benefits of breastfeeding increase with the degree of exclusivity and the length and continuation of breastfeeding.

In conjunction with the Healthy Start program we offer the following classes:

  • Childbirth
  • Car Seat Safety
  • Boot Camp for New Dads
