CHEERS for Peers is a 13 week HIV & AIDS cirriculum to prepare people living with HIV & AIDS to become Peer Educators.The cirriculum provides the basic tools and knowledge a Peer Educator needs to provide effective HIV education, prevention messages, and peer support in the community. It is available in English and Spanish.

  • Primary Care of the HIV+ Patient
  • The Importance of Adherence and How to Avoid Resistance to Medication
  • The UIltimate HAART Lecture
  • What I Need to Know About Opportunistic Infections
  • Mental Health and Substance Abuse issues in the HIV+ Person
  • Why Nutrition is so Important
  • Tuberculosis and Sexually Transmitted Diseases
  • Basic Concepts about HIV and Hepatitis
  • HIPAA, Confidentiality, Cultural Competence and the Peer Educator
  • Course Review - Take Home
  • Final Exam
