Vaccine Preventable Diseases are infectious diseases for which an effective preventive vaccine exists.

In the past many of these diseases disabled or killed millions of American children. Thanks to America's high childhood immunization coverage levels, these diseases are now very uncommon in the United States.

Many of these viruses and bacteria are still circulating in this around the world and are only a plane ride away. That’s why it’s important that children, especially infants and young children, receive recommended immunizations on time.

School age children in the State of Florida are required to be vaccinated for:

• Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertusis (DTaP)
• Hepatitis B
• Polio
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
• Varicella (Chickenpox)
