Nursing Homes & Assisted Living Facilities

man with caneThe Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) is the agency that licenses assisted living facilities.

The Department of Health (DOH) inspects the physical plant of these facilities using our community based residential facility rule, Chapter 64E-12 of the Florida Administrative Code (FAC), as a community-based residential facility in the group care program. There is no DOH state group care program license required or issued, but an inspection is required annually.

The Department of Health Inspection covers:

Food hygiene is inspected quarterly. We have approximately 33 nursing homes and 82 Adult Living Facilities in Orange County.

Complaints about food safety and environmental conditions are handled by the Orange County Health Department. All other complaints are handled by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). Please provide details surrounding the complaint including: date(s) of the incident or observation, location/room within the facility it occurred or was observed, address of the facility, and any other pertinent information related to the issue.
